Kalvin’s Family & Friends

Hi, everybody! Kalvin the Kamel here. I’ll bet a lot of you didn’t know that camels come in many different colors – black, white, tan, brown, red, blonde and grey (like me). We’re kind of an international community representing all colors. We live on a reservation called Kamel Krest in Arizona where a lot of our ancestors from the U.S. Camel Corps lived. Right now, I’d like to introduce you to some of my friends and family that you’ll meet in our stories.

First, in the upper left of our picture, are our feathered friends, Aesop & Olivia Owl. Next to them is Kornelius, my grandfather, the one I can go to whenever I’m trying to figure out stuff about life. Below him is Dr. Sands. He’s, our family doctor – the one we see for check-ups & stuff. Below him, is Mrs. Sage, our schoolteacher. Though learning’s not always so easy, she tries to make our studies fun (and history is my favorite subject). In front of her, with the oval eyeglasses, is Ginny (short for Virginia Cities), the artistic one of us, who’s actually got a crush on me. The gorgeous blonde camel (I guess I’m prejudiced) is Sirena Nevada, the camel I’m secretly in love with. That’s me in front of the crowd on the right hand side of the screen next to my younger brother Alvin, who he thinks he’s a lot smarter than me (don’t all younger brothers?). The mischievous-looking one behind me is Jeremy, my sidekick. Boy, I can’t tell you the number of times he’s helped me get into some kind of trouble – although all our adventures always seem to start out as fun. Next to him is Molly, our mom, the person who takes super care of us. Behind her is our dad Jedediah, and he helps our Park Ranger, H.J., at Kamel Krest keep the grounds at our reservation in good shape.
